Room With a View
We moved into the 16th floor of an apartment hotel two blocks from the beach. We have a wonderful balcony that looks out onto the surfers at Waikiki. We walked down to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the light pink hotel from the 1920's and had a Mai Tai and looked out on the sunset and the hundreds of people walking by from all over the world. Later we walked down the beach and into a hula festival featuring dancers as young as 8 years old. Their Hawaiian teacher, a grandmother who played the uke had a gorgeous smile on her face as she sang and her students performed. The Aloha spirit of love is everywhere.
Look closely at the surfers on Waikiki. The next blog installment will include photos of someone you will all recognize surfing.
